Interplay secures Ballerium

Interplay has struggled in the very recent past, and to at all survive, they have partly been forced to sell off key franchises and terminate most of the employees. Now they have secured the publishing rights to Ballerium, a massively multiplayer strategy game from the Israeli Majorem. Three months ago, the development of this exciting title shelved for financial reasons, but now that Interplay has come into the picture is the development in full swing again, and the release is scheduled to take place this summer.

Ballerium is described as an MMORTS games (Massive Multiplayer Online Real Time Strategy), and the gameplay takes place in a game world that exists independently of the players, as in the usual MMORPG game. Unlike similar online strategy games, thousands play simultaneously, and developers argue that the game will support an infinite number of players. All players in the same world, and there will be no different servers to play on.

In Ballerium, each of the players collect resources and build and command a number of military units. The possibilities include taking of cities, join clans, trade and mine. The game also comes with all characters that can be trained to become powerful leaders. If desired, the player can give orders to their devices so they can continue to exist in the game world when he or she logs off.

According to Interplay represents agreement with Majorem first step on the path to becoming an important player in the online market. Ballerium has already received much attention online, and there were many who were disappointed when the development was put on ice three months ago. The game is currently in closed beta.
