Snow Blind is back! If you do not know who fabulous Snowblind Studios, is I’m free to call you a savage barbarian. This is the gang behind herlege played Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath. This was fabulous action adventure in the same street as the Diablo, and in my opinion some of the best collaborative experiences through the ages.
New blood
With War in the North makes Snowblind some changes to the formula they had great success with the previous console generation. It is still cooperation that are the focus, but the isometric point of view from the earlier play is gone in favor of a third person camera. A natural consequence is that in contrast to the Dark Alliance will not be possible for everyone to play on the same screen.
War of the North tells a new story that setting of the show along with the stories of Lord of the Rings books. We will follow a group of three heroes. In the roles we find an elf, a human and a dwarf. The different rasane have different roles, and in typical fantasy style is good at melee dwarf, elf with good arc and man a small bridge on the magic.
In addition to individual combat area, each race has different characteristics. An elf will, for example, could see traces of the landscape no one is able to see. for example, let him look thin stone walls, which may hide a treasure or two.
All functions in the War of the North seems to be very simple. There is no advanced system here, but this is and some of what makes the game so fabulous easy to come in time with. Each race has its own ways to fight on, and it is through cooperation of the major experiences coming.
Together we are a lightning
In my meeting with the War of the North got my era of playing a tough dwarf. With a heavy ax in the hands I got some solid style pieces on what the game has to offer. As in many other action games I had two basic attacks in which one was stronger than the other. An interesting twist on this formula is that the strong attack has two functions.
In addition to the two attacks had dwarf two special characteristics. One is a war cry that will change the focus to the surrounding enemies in the current dwarf, while the second is a sharp blow with the ax that sends shock waves in all directions. In itself this may not sound so interesting, but when you use them in conjunction with the other rasane pops up many exciting situations. Karen is Magic, for example, not so strong against physical attacks, but he can set up a magic shield that can contain magic and arrows out.
Dwarf is in these situations perfectly to defend the magic man on enemies with sharp swords. A solid blow with the ax and aftershock sends enemies flying, which in turn provides elf a golden chance to fire away a sea of arrows. I noticed immediately how much cooperation the item is and how important it is to stand together to solve challenges. The result is very engaging and incredibly fun.
Evocative presentation
Something else that really sets a good mood is the music from the respected composer Inon Zur, who have previously worked with Snow Blind on the Champions of Norrath-play. From what I got right I interpreted it to mean that he combines their own compositions with variants by Howard Shore soundtrack to Lord of the Rings to the big success.
The game also includes calls where you can even choose what you want to say through a system that is almost identical with Mass Effect. Developers could tell that whatever choice you make will not have an effect on history, but instead tell you more about the world and what happens in it. They want the player himself will get choose how deep they will go into history.
Conclusion
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is what we call the 30-second rule. It is umiddebart the range duck, and once you set down the controller much enjoying you. This is not an advanced role playing with many systems to learn, but rather an easily accessible adventure where the main goal is to create a good experience for three cooperative players.
Just what I can promise you that they have to. To walk together in battle by using the individual characteristics of the three heroes in clever ways is fantastic satisfactory and fun. If this is not a gem of a game to Snowblind really mess it to himself until the launch at the beginning of next year.
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North will go on sale next year, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
